The founders of basebox, Markus Thielen and René Herzer, have been working with doctors and scientists at the Charité Berlin for four years to develop digital health solutions.

Based on this experience, they developed a secure software (backend API) that can be used to develop digital medical products faster and more cost-effectively. Information about this and the software can be found here.

At the end of the AI winter of 2023, it became clear that the software was the ideal basis for an AI integration platform for healthcare companies.
Security, data protection and performance had already been resolved.

Since September 2023, basebox AI_, the AI integration platform, has been built by six experienced software developers. In May 2024, the closed beta test started with several hospitals and companies from other industries. Since July 2024, basebox AI_ has been in public beta testing.

The feedback has been positive and demand is increasing.

To be able to implement the numerous use cases quickly, cost-effectively and at the same time in a technically secure manner, the software architecture was developed with an app store logic from the outset.

For the development of the apps, basebox provides an app builder. One version for people without prior technical knowledge and one for software developers.
The latter makes it possible to build apps of any complexity, entire workflows and ultimately AI agents quickly and easily, as well as to host and maintain them yourself.

For companies with particularly high security and data protection needs, basebox will publish the entire application, including the AI models, as an easy-to-install on-premise solution.

Developing and distributing such a complex product is motivating in itself. On top of that, the idea of being able to drastically reduce healthcare costs is great. The effects will be felt by everyone:
