Mulled wine, little fires and AI visions – sometimes the best conversations arise in a relaxed atmosphere

When we entered the brand-new campus toelz in the Munich metropolitan region on Friday evening, it quickly became clear: Dr. Hannspeter Schubert and Sophie V. Friedrich from t:base had organized a well-thought-out year-end event. The concept "Unstoppable Ideas. Unusual Spaces" was already evident in the special atmosphere of the evening.

A lighthouse project takes shape

Campus toelz is more than just another technology location. Dr. Schubert, experienced managing director and visionary, guides us through the brand-new facilities. The modern architecture of the large halls and office spaces is not just stylish – it breathes innovation. "A lighthouse project is being created here in the south of Munich with a focus on tech, innovation and nature," he explains during the tour.

The ecosystem growing here is impressive: The AI Lab of TU Munich as research partner, bayern innovativ, bavAIRia, aerospace partners, Munich University of Applied Sciences as education partner and the top cluster MAI Carbon as technology partner. A constellation that shows: Here, people don't just talk, but systematically shape the future.

Real conversations instead of classic presentations

Sophie V. Friedrich moderates a lively discussion round with Dr. Robert R. Richter, managing director of Werk 1, Lucas Spreiter, founder of VentaAI and other experts. Her appeal to the approximately 40 participants is simple and effective: "Have at least one good conversation tonight."

The concept works. Instead of classic presentations, we experience real exchange: entertaining pitches, open conversations, inspiring encounters. The atmosphere with mulled wine and little fires creates the perfect framework for casual conversations about AI, robotics, space, defense, VR and sports tech.

basebox in the spotlight: Secure AI management

As one of eight startups, I get to present basebox as a secure AI management system. In this relaxed Friday evening atmosphere, it's particularly fun to talk about our vision: How AI technology can be implemented safely, transparently and efficiently in companies.

The reactions are encouraging. Founders, investors and tech talents from the region show genuine interest in practical AI solutions. The conversations don't revolve around theoretical concepts, but around concrete use cases and challenges.

Networking with substance

After the pitches follows what really makes such events valuable: authentic networking with delicious snacks and good drinks. Sophie's call was successful – I have many good conversations with potential partners and prospects.

An outlook to 2026

The evening not only provides insights into the current innovation landscape, but also a "little sneak preview" of what will happen at campus toelz in 2026. The vision is clear: A vibrant place for shaping the future that connects deep tech scale-ups from all over the world.

For us at basebox, it was a valuable opportunity to become part of the growing AI and innovation community in the south. The relaxed atmosphere, the thoughtful organization and especially the quality of the conversations made the evening a real success.
