The idea came from years of work on digital innovation for Charité, the Berlin university hospital. One pattern kept recurring: professionals wanted to use AI to make better decisions but were not allowed to, because sensitive patient data must not leave the hospital’s protected environment. Generative AI has sharpened this conflict for every regulated organisation. Hospitals and administrations need AI, but cannot hand sensitive data to just any cloud service.

That is how basebox came about: an AI platform that runs entirely in your own environment, on your server or as a separate environment in our cloud in Germany. Customer data trains no model. ISO 27001 certified, GDPR-compliant, built for the requirements of BSI IT-Grundschutz (the German baseline security standard), NIS2 and critical infrastructure regulation. In the cloud you can start work immediately; the server is on your premises three weeks after your order, installed in your data centre.

Today hospitals and local governments use basebox for chat, search, document processing and apps based on their own data, guidelines and processes. Every action is assigned to a person and role, checked and fully recorded in the audit log.
